Startup Training

Entrepreneur First will give you first-class training to help you start your business. This is about as far from management theory as you can imagine – we’re talking about the practical stuff you need to know to found and grow a business. It’s a curriculum developed with entrepreneurs to cover what they wish they’d known when they started out themselves.

What’s more, the training is delivered by entrepreneurs who can give you their own real examples, as well as by angel investors, venture capitalists and other experts.

The Entrepreneur First training starts with an intense summer boot camp. You’ll use this time to develop your idea, build your team and absorb the collective wisdom of some of the UK’s leading entrepreneurs. In just a couple of weeks, you’ll learn all the basics it might have taken you a year to work out by yourself.

Over the following two years, you’ll have further part-time training, allowing you to stay a step ahead while focusing the vast majority of your time on getting your business rolling. Some of the training courses are ‘core’, which we would highly recommend you attending. Many others are elective, so you’ll be able to choose to attend only if they’re relevant to you and to your business. The important thing is that the topics remain highly practical through out and will guide you through some of the trickiest challenges of growing a business – from hiring and firing to raising venture capital.

Perhaps most importantly, you'll learn from each other. You'll be part of a cohort of 30 exceptional people going through the same challenges and trials at the same time. Your cohort will be an extraordinary resource and we expect that you'll learn as much or more from each other's successes and failures as you will from the formal training.

The training covers the entire spectrum of entrepreneurial activity. Topics include:
  • Idea generation
  • Business model development and iteration
  • Customer development
  • New venture finance
  • Governance and legal incorporation
  • Recruiting
  • Product development
  • Scaling
  • Marketing & sales
  • Accounting, tax and law
  • Psychology of entrepreneurship
